I’m sure I won’t earn any popularity points with this post today. But I do get asked my opinion on this issue regularly. So I’m going to post my OPINION on it today. Mind you, I will share with you why I have such an opinion, but obviously this is a decision that you’ll need to make for yourself.
1) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #1: Dangerous Side Effects. In a study in Britain, over half of all children who have had Tamiflu have had side effects to it. (The current vaccination that’s being developed is based in part on Tamiflu.) Additionally, doctors STILL do not know why the vaccinations given in 1976 caused paralysis. Also, since the flu of 1918, the vaccination has killed more people than the disease itself. Um…I’m thinking I don’t like those odds.
2) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #2: Improper Testing. Since the 1980’s, vaccine manufacturers have been made legally immune to lawsuits in the event that their vaccine harms children. However, recently our U.S. administration has given blanket legal immunity to the manufacturers for the H1N1 vaccine. In other words, the manufacturers will simply make a whole lot of money with no motivation to actually test and make sure that their vaccine is safe. Given the history of the side effects of vaccines in the past, I’m also not liking those odds, folks.
3) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #3: Illegal and Immoral. There have been rumors that the vaccination may become mandatory. When WHO made their Pandemic Declaration in June, they stated that all children under the age of 6 were to be immunized. Um, not only NO, but &%$# NO. Our laws prevent such actions. Additionally a government even conceiving of such a plan, is completely immoral. If women can decide whether or not to abort a baby, I sure as heck can decide for myself whether to put a foreign substance in me that is created by individuals who have no legal compunction to ensure its safety.
4) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #4: Known Dangerous Components. The base of the H1N1 vaccination is Thimerosal. This is a mercury base and is known to be a neurotoxin. It also contains Aluminum adjuvant: an aluminum-containing compound. This releases the antigen causing strong, enhanced antibody response. However, this component has specifically been linked to Gulf War Syndrome that has caused tremendous permanent damage to thousands of military. Aluminum is a known cause of cognitive dysfunction. It also contains Disodium phosphate: a white powder, water-soluble salt. It is used as an anti-caking additive in powdered products. This inorganic chemical is also used as a fungicide and microbiocide. Let’s also add a little bit of Formaldehyde—you know, that substance that you’re embalmed with when you’re dead. It’s also a known carcinogen and reproductive or developmental toxicant. According to PANNA, in 2007, California used 30,328 pounds of this carcinogen, as a microbiocide (a drug or other agent that can kill microbes) on the top 50 crops grown in the state. And let’s also add a dash of Octoxynol 10: (Also known as Triton X-100) a detergent, emulsifier, wetting and defoaming agent. (Octoxynol-9 is a spermatocide.) It can alter metabolic activity, damage membranes, and cause a rapid decline in cell function.
Lastly, let’s sprinkle in a little Polysorbate 80, also known as “Tween 80.” It is used as an emulsifier in cosmetics, and is one of the ingredients in Gardasil, the cervical cancer vaccine that is being mandated/promoted for teenage girls. This ingredient is known to cause infertility, grand mal convulsions, spontaneous abortions, and life-threatening anaphylactic shock. So far, 28 Gardasil deaths have been reported.
Thanks, but no thanks. I like my medical cocktails a little more refreshing.
A good read on this topic is the following medical report: http://www.rense.com/general86/dngers.htm
5) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #5: Too Much Speculation Involved—Not Science. Let’s face it. You can’t predict the future, folks. The planned H1N1 vaccination has not even been finished yet, let alone tested. I’m not about to be a guinea pig. I’ll do what I am already comfortable and knowledgeable about in order to ensure my health. This H1N1 strain has shown that it’s still evolving and resistant to vaccinations. We’re not even in the peak flu season as of yet. So who knows what the flu strain will evolve to by mid-October when the vaccination is expected to be available? Presently they are creating the vaccination based on the “1918 Spanish flu.” As you know, vaccinations have a portion of the flu strain in them in hopes that your body builds up an immunity to it. Ummm…I’m sorry. But I’m not interested in putting even a small portion of the most deadly flu outbreak ever into my body—especially one that has been festering in laboratories for over a hundred years.
6) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #6: Suspicious. There have been a lot of rumors circulating about whether or not this virus was purposely released, etc.—after all, we’ve stored samples of all of the known outbreaks, and a whole lot of our own making. I’m not going to give any of that credence at this juncture. However, I do find it suspicious that the drug companies have been indemnified by the government for any potential physical harm the vaccines may cause—why would they do that if they were safe? And it’s very suspicious that one of the largest drug companies, Baxter, filed a patent for the H1N1 an entire year BEFORE the virus manifested itself. They also admitted sending contaminated flu viruses to subcontractors. And let’s not forget that it was Baxter that distributed tainted vaccine for the avian flu! Hmmm…setting a stage? I’m thinking that they can make their bazillions on someone else’s body, not mine. And what’s with this “requirement” to the media to no longer calling it “the swine flu?” Instead we are going to call it the “H1N1 virus.” That’s like putting lipstick on a pig, in my opinion. (Excuse the pun)
7) Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #7: Mathematics. On a lighter note, I figure that if the vaccine does work as well as it was supposed to, then all I really have to do is encourage people around me who I don’t like to get vaccinated. And that should be sufficient. 🙂 Just kidding
So, there is obviously a decision to be made here. But I think I’ve clearly shared with you the main reasons why I will NOT be getting the H1N1 vaccine. I trust alternative health methods and my faith a heck of a lot more than what my current medical options are out there. Perhaps you should make it a matter of a prayerful decision for yourself and your family—or at least a well researched one.

I determined a while back that NO WAY would I, or my children, take this vax should it be made available. My only question is how to avoid it. I hate to think of what will happen to millions of people and their children who submit themselves to this. I believe it will be truly devastating and far worse than the results of those who refuse it.

I was reading something earlier that stated that the CDC would recommend quarantine for anyone who did not get vaccinated. Fine by me…

Umm, how to avoid it? do you mean the shot? That is pretty easy, don’t let them inject you. You can figure out the rest.
Kellene I love the post, however I’d love to see an alternative listed. You might not be aware yet. There is very, very strong evidence that high doses of vitamin D3, doses equal to sunny day exposure, prevent the flu. This is the reason that flu is a winter problem. In the winter the suns angle to earth is such that we don’t get uvb rays. also it is cold and we have short days..
Dr. Donald Miller has some very good articles on Vitamin D and the flu shot.

Vitamin D is very good to take in large doses. I take 4000+ units a day when I don’t forget. Only our government claims this is unsafe. In Canada, Vit D is used to treat cancer.

You are correct. The truth is that on a sunny day in the carribean we will produce 20,000iu in just 20 minutes.
I think Canada also uses a 160,000iu injection before flu season.

My family and I won’t be getting vaccinated – our primary reason being that this vaccine hasn’t been thoroughly researched and tested. That’s really the only reason that I personally need to say “No.”
The game plan is to use common sense – taking the vitamin D3, for example, and keeping our hands as clean as possible. (Just a couple of things that we can do.) At the same time, we trust God a lot more than we trust the pharmaceutical industry and our government.

I agree with you 100%. I am also really alarmed they are suggesting pregnant women should be the first in line. If young children shouldn’t take it and it hasn’t been thoroughly tested, why would we be testing it on fetuses. We have no idea what could potentially happen to them. I am ready to voluntarily quarantine myself and my family to avoid any “mandatory” vaccines. I hope that will be good enough.

No vaccination for us either. Last time my wife got a flu-vaccine shot, she was sick for months and months. I know too many people who get sick from vaccine shots.
No thanks, I’d rather take my chances fighting the virus than expose myself to the flu vaccine.

Sabrina, I have NO IDEA of why anyone would even think of using an untested, unproven injection on pregnant women. That’s just insane if you ask me.
Then again: pregnant women were, in the past, encouraged to take Thalidomide. 🙁

I read that the WHO is already implementing programs that give them the right to declare this low level terrorism and the can come in your homes on quarentine you, and force you to recieve the immunization. My employer is forcing on it they said “Yes you have a choice, you can either recieve the immunization or your employment will be terminated. Your choice”

I’m sorta lucky on this subject. I am allergic to eggs as is most of my children. It’s in my medical records. No forced flu shots for me because they are created in an egg base 🙂 I have told a few people that when the subject comes up in the doctors office you just calmly say, ‘sorry…egg allergy’ and the subject is closed.

I, unfortunately, can’t get away with not getting a flu shot of any kind. The CDC requires all health care workers including nursing students (me) to have a flu shot.
And yes an egg allergy might exempt you from the flu shot but don’t be surprised if they are making you take a flu shot that they wouldn’t make you have an allergy test run.

I also have an egg allergy, and have never been able to get a flu shot. This may exempt egg allergy sufferers from the swine flu shot, but don’t count on it. Some of the vaccines are using the egg-base, while others are cell-based.

Hey, I love your blog, but just so you know, a lot of your information on this issue is just plain wrong. I really hate to see how so many others are believing the incorrect information you are spreading too! Please be careful about the sources you read and cite, because they are not all of credible scientific quality. Anybody can write anything on a blog or even in a news article, so we need to be careful where we get our facts.
Fact: The vaccine IS being tested RIGHT NOW. They are currently taking applicants for the test trials.
Fact: The CDC is encouraging folks to get the seasonal flu vaccine this month before getting the H1N1 flu shot later. Why? Specifically so they can WATCH FOR SIDE EFFECTS.
Fact: The government doesn’t allow lawsuits against flu vaccine makers because otherwise vaccine makers would have no financial incentive to make flu vaccines and would make other medicines instead. So the government HAS to provide this immunity or else we wouldn’t have any flu shots at all. So it’s not a big conspiracy, it’s just the only way we can get flu shots.
Fact: A much larger percentage of the H1N1 deaths have been pregnant women, and THAT’S why they are ASKING (not requiring) pregnant women to get the vaccine first. It’s not because they have a dark sinister desire to test the vaccine on fetuses.
Fact: The flu vaccines have NOT killed more people since 1918 then the flu itself as you claim in your blog post. 36,000 people die each year from the flu (often from complications due to other health problems). When did more than 36,000 people die from the vaccine in a single year, let alone every year since 1918?
Fact: The government is NOT going to require people to get the shot. They may give it at school, but it will still be mandatory. The reality is that there is not enough of the vaccine this year for those who want it, so if you don’t want it—that’s great because others do. They simply can’t make it mandatory even if they wanted to because they don’t have enough of it.
Just so you know, I’m not discrediting all of your reasons. I try to keep an open mind about things like this, and plan to read some of your sources and do some research. I just encourage you–and others on this blog–to do the same and keep an OPEN MIND. Be careful about what you read, and double check things with REPUTABLE SOURCES. Anyone can say anything on the Internet, but what have medical researchers said in the leading research journals?
As for my family, we are not scared silly about the H1N1 virus, nor are we scared of the vaccine. We’re planning to get the shots, but are continuing to keep an open mind about it in case there are reputable sources with good evidence to prove we shouldn’t.
thanks! We do love your food storage advice on your blog.

Rick,
I’m glad you’ve found some of what I’ve written to be beneficial.
Although I have complete control over what gets posted on this site, I’ve approved your comment to be posted on here because I have no problem with opinions that are differing from mine. The only posts which I don’t approve are those which are attacking of me or others, or are otherwise crude, etc.
However, I do not agree with what you have posted on many different levels. For the record, as a journalist, I stand firmly by my articles–although I do wish I was more of a scientist for some of them. The information that I posted, while it may be controversial, is well researched. In consideration of time and space I only provided a few of my references. I’m certain that any other intelligent person can do some research at the library and online and come up with very similiar, if not even more convincing results. I agree with your assertion for folks to do more research for their own peace of mind.
I guess ultimately, only time will tell whether or not I was “fearmongering” or whether or not some individuals are naive.

Ok. a couple of things here Samantha, that everyone should really learn.
1) Unless taking a vaccination is a part of your employment contract, outlined in the employee handbook–of which you’ve received a copy and have acknowledged doing so in writing, then you cannot be fired for this purpose without them having to pay you unemployment. Even if you’re in an “at will” state, that’s the case.
2)Remember that the WHO is NOT the law in the U.S. We have a U.S. Constitution. And ANY other law that has or is proposed to be passed which conflict with the Constitution is unconstitutional.
I read a great deal about the Massachusetts proposal yesterday which is the most egregious violation of rights proposed at present. It’s passed the Senate but still has to be passed in the House. I pity the people of Massachusetts for allowing this freedom to be violated in this manner.
I suggest that people call their governors office and find out what their plans are for violating your constitutional rights. This flu has NOT hit the level of this kind of action yet and the vaccine has NOT been proven yet to be effective.

Please do not take the vaccine. I was in the military and was forced to take many vaccines and I know the consequences. Squalene is the cause of GWS, you do not hear of the 100,000+ deaths related to it. Squalene is in the H1N1 it is the dirty little secret the CDC and our government doesn’t want you to know. You are protected under the bill of rights if you do not wish to take the shot. I have nuerological problems that have changed my life forever but at least I am still alve.

I am NOT taking the Swine Flu Vac, as I do have MS and feel that it would do my body much more harm than good.
Honestly, I am very skeptical about any vaccination, espicially since we have seen (but barely heard about) the awful expieriences that have occured from Gardisil.
Be Well! I will stick to the GSE thanks 😉
