DEELUSHOUS Black Bean Brownie Recipe

By Kellene, Preparedness Pro on 25 February 2014 - 10:30am

I should have posted this recipe years ago when I first had a taste of it as made by my dear friend, Chris.  So you have her to thank for being willing to share this recipe. *grin* Enjoy- and yes, I do mean ENJOY!  Not only are these delicious, but because of the REAL food that's used in them, you won't find yourself wolfing down the entire batch because the fiber and other REAL nutrients will satiate your appetite.  Thanks Chris, from me, for being willing to share this recipe!  Luv ya bunches!

This brownie recipe sounds fabulous, but I want to make sure I understand: we add no other ingredients, just bake at whatever temp for whatever time?

Thank you for all you do for us!

You got it. NO other ingredients. You only bake it according to directions depending on the type of pan you're using and whether or not you have to accomodate high altitude.

This may be obvious but do the beans take the place of any egg, oil, or water called for by the mix directions? Or do you still add them?
Thanks!

Yes, Pamela, the beans take the place of all other ingredients.  Just mix the pureed beans with the mix and bake.

As a person who shuns ALL processed food (and a brownie mix is definitely processed) because I have yet to find one that doesn't contain GMOs in the form of soy, canola and/or corn as well as a chemical soup no one needs, I wonder if there is some way to incorporated beans into a scratch receipe. I'll have to experiment.

So ... only the beans and brownie mix? No eggs, oil, etc. that the instructions on the brownie mix might call for?

Jan, I merely took my favorite brownie from scratch recipe and substituted the black beans for the oil and eggs. It turned out fabulou!

I had that same concern. I try to avoid any processed/packaged foods and would prefer to make from scratch.

On one of the comments you said you used your favorite brownie mix from scratch. What is your favorite brownie mix?
Thank you

I think what I was trying to say is that my favorite brownie mix is the one I make from scratch and then just store it in a Mason jar for shelf-life.

Do you can your own black

Do you can your own black beans? If so, do you cook the beans before pressure canning?

Nope, I don't cook them

Nope, I don't cook them before pressure canning them, but there are many old timers that do cook it partially. I use hot broth and soaked beans overnight when I can mine.
