Hello Folks, I just wanted to take a second and let you all know about the group buy at Five Star, especially in light of the Coconut Oil article I’ve written. They’ve got a gallon of extra virgin, cold pressed on sale for less than you can get it from the manufacturer and that is even in consideration of the shipping! They also have some steep  markdowns on a couple of Shirley J products that are two of my favorites as well as the high quality Redmond RealSalt. So I thought it would definitely...

Whether it’s a summer day or a hibernating winter one, I still enjoy this quick soup because it tastes so yummy and satisfies. It’s even more memorable when I am trying to ward off an oncoming cold. I call this Chicken Little Soup because I don’t use the traditional big noodles for this one, rather I use either Acini de Pepe or Orzo instead. Either way, it’s easy and tasty. In a pressure cooker all of the cooking is over in about 5 minutes once you bring it to a boil and set the pressure lid...

So, what is all of this stuff  and hooey about essential oils? Are they just another quack medicine? Do they really serve any real purpose? How in the world do you decide which fluffy named oil to purchase? Do I choose the one named "My Life" or "Love Life"? How do you use it?  What are the side effects?  Can you overdose on it? Will it stain my clothes? Can I use them on my cat named Fluffy who's stresses out every time I leave the house? Is it addictive?{C} If you’ve ever wondered any one of...

Hey Folks. I just came across this article today. I won't go into everything that I'm thinking about this tidbit of news, but for those of you who have taken my Financial Velocity webinar, you understand that this is a very significant event which has significant ramifications. I have had a lot of e-mails requesting some ideas for folks to look at for self-employment.  As such, I’ve come up with a list of ideas and companies that have caught my eye over the past decade that I would certainly feel good about recommending. Please note, some of these are just ideas. Some of these are companies that I have elected to be involved with, if for no other reason that I hate to pay full price for anything if I can avoid it (yup—but I’m sure you knew that about me already)....

Chocolate Buttermilk Pudding This is one of those recipes that is so easy, yet so memorable for those who you share it with. It's also definitely a comfort food for me! Don't be put off by the "chilling" or the "cool whip" ingredients in the recipe as the chilling isn't absolutely necessary and the cool whip can easily be substituted with Spiff-E-Whip. Enjoy! 2 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding 2 C of cold buttermilk (If you don’t have refrigeration, this will still taste just fine.)...

A Preparedness Pro reader whom I’ve become friends with, recently wrote me to tell me that she and her husband have bit the bullet and moved out of the city into a more rural setting.  Why in the world would she do this when it requires a whole lot of work, fixing up a property, and a significantly longer commute?  It has to do with her “WHY.” Several months ago I was teaching a class on the Ten Principles of Preparedness. Just before we got started, a mother and father entered with their...

by Kellene You may be too young to know this, but a long time ago, coconut oil (and some palm oils) was in virtually everything you ate.  Your French fries were cooked in it, your mayonnaise was made with it, and it was used in many of your processed foods as well.  So what changed? How did coconut oil fall from grace in the food industry? Well, like most instances such as this, the secret behind this switch has to do with money, power, and greed. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate...

Today’s recipe comes from one of my favorite regular dishes.  It’s hearty, pleasing to the eye, and one of the simplest ones to make from long-term pantry items.  This recipe is a very, very simple “Open, dump, and mix” one. Note that I do store the Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice in its original box in a bucket with an oxygen absorber in order to ensure that it gives me the maximum amount of shelf-life. Southern Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole 4 cups of canned chicken, drained 1 package (6 ounces) of...
